Ranchi, Aug. 10 -- The BJP on Monday announced a statewide bandh in Jharkhand on Tuesday in protest against the police action against students during their Assembly gherao over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations.
The bandh will begin at 8 am, BJP state president Aditya Sahu said at a joint press conference with Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi at the party's state headquarters.
Sahu said essential services would be exempted from the bandh and appealed to party workers to ensure cooperation during the shutdown.
He alleged that the state government had treated protesting students like criminals and accused the police of resorting to lathicharge several times during Monday's protest.
