Samastipur, June 17 -- Veteran socialist leader and JP movement activist Muneshwar Singh passed away at the age of 90. His last rites were performed on Wednesday at his native village in Bihar in the presence of family members, residents, and political leaders.

He died at his native village, Karpuri Gram, in Samastipur district of the state on Monday night.

Singh, a close associate of Bharat Ratna awardee and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, was widely respected for his contributions to the socialist movement, and his role in the movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan.
