New Delhi, July 26 -- Pralhad Joshi took charge as the country's education minister on Sunday, a day after his predecessor Dharmendra Pradhan resigned amid nationwide student protests over the NEET paper leak controversy, government officials said.
President Droupadi Murmu accepted Pradhan's resignation on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appointed Joshi to take additional charge of the education ministry, according to an official announcement.
Joshi will continue to head the ministries of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, and new and renewable energy.
