New Delhi, April 21 -- John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple, is set to become the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the company on September 1, 2026, an Apple blog said here on Tuesday.

Apple's current CEO, Tim Cook, will become Executive Chairman of Apple's Board of Directors.

This transition was approved unanimously by the Board of Directors following a thoughtful and long-term succession planning process.

To ensure a smooth transition, Cook will continue to remain CEO this summer.
