Ranchi, July 20 -- The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday criticised the Centre's proposed Vande Mataram National Honour Insult Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2026, alleging that it was an attempt to divert public attention from issues such as inflation, unemployment and other public concerns.

Addressing mediapersons, JMM central spokesperson Manoj Pandey alleged that the BJP-led NDA government was attempting to shift focus from issues affecting the people by bringing the proposed legislation.

He also criticised the Centre over inflation and employment.

Pandey said people respected both the national anthem Jana Gana Mana and the national song Vande Mataram, but questioned the timing of the proposed Bill.
