Aizawl, Oct. 30 -- union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, has praised the India Meteorological Department (IMD)for significantly improving its weather forecasting and early warning capabilities in Mizoram.

Reviewing the department's operations in the state on Wednesday, Dr. Singh said the IMD's upgraded forecasting systems would play a vital role in strengthening disaster preparedness, agricultural planning, and community awareness across the hilly terrain of the Northeast.
