Chennai, April 16 -- The Department of Medical Education at JIPMER, Puducherry (formerly the National Teacher Training Centre - NTTC), is commemorating 50 years of pioneering service in medical education.

Established in 1975 with WHO support, it is revered as the 'Mother Centre' of medical education in India, a PIB release said here on Thursday.

A historic hallmark of JIPMER is the National Course on Educational Science for Teachers of Health Professionals (NCESTHP), being conducted without interruption since 1976.

This sustained effort has trained over 2,500 faculty members nationally and internationally.

Recognised as a Regional Centre by the National Medical Commission in 2015 and subsequently elevated as a Nodal Centre in 2023, the ...
