Chennai, March 13 -- Owing to limited fuel availability, stainless steel major Jindal Stainless has rationalised production at its plants, a top company official said on Friday.
"Stainless steel manufacturing is heavily dependent on industrial gases such as propane, LPG, and natural gas, and several processes across our plants have been adversely affected," Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said.
Unlike conventional steel, which primarily uses blast furnace and coke oven gases generated in-house, the stainless steel industry follows a scrap-based production route and does not produce these gases internally.
"As a result, limited fuel availability has forced our plants to operate at rationalised capacities," Jindal said.
