Ranchi, June 3 -- The inaugural edition of the Jharkhand Women's Premier League (JWPL) commenced at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium complex here on Wednesday, with four teams competing in the tournament aimed at promoting women's cricket in the state.
The tournament was inaugurated by Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) president Ajay Nath Shahdeo, vice-president Sanjay Pandey, secretary Saurabh Tiwary and joint secretary Shahbaz Nadeem.
Speaking on the occasion, Tiwary said the league had been launched to provide a competitive platform for emerging women cricketers and help them progress to higher levels of the game.
