Ranchi, July 19 -- Jharkhand's Santhali film 'Angen', directed by Ravi Raj Murmu, has won the 72nd National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director in the non-feature film category, bringing national recognition to the state's indigenous cinema.

Congratulating Murmu on Sunday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the award was a matter of pride for Jharkhand and the Santhal community. In a statement, he said 'Angen' had showcased the richness of the Santhali language, culture and storytelling on the national stage.
