Ramgarh, Oct. 8 -- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday performed the last rites of his mother and late JMM leader Shibu Soren's wife, Roopi Soren, at her ancestral village Nemra in Ramgarh district, amid the presence of a large number of people.
Roopi Soren's mortal remains were brought to Nemra in the afternoon and taken to the Dhekanala cremation ground.
Hemant performed the last rites and lit the funeral pyre in accordance with traditional rituals.
A large number of people, including state ministers, MPs, legislators from ruling and opposition parties, political leaders, supporters and local residents, gathered in Nemra to pay their final respects. The atmosphere remained solemn as the funeral procession proceeded to the...
