Ranchi, March 2 -- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday chaired the 36th meeting of the State Sentence Review Board at the Chief Minister's Residential Office on Kanke Road, where release of 23 prisoners serving life imprisonment was approved.
The Board reviewed fresh cases recommended for consideration along with 34 cases earlier rejected in previous meetings. After detailed deliberations, consent was given for the release of 23 prisoners.
The Chief Minister examined the nature of offences and reviewed reports submitted by courts, Superintendents of Police of the concerned districts, jail superintendents and probation officers before granting approval.
