Palamu, Oct. 26 -- Three youths drowned in the Sone River near Pokharahi village today while bathing for Kharna, a significant ritual of the Chhath festival.

According to reports, a group of eight to ten young men had gone to bathe in the river when five of them were swept away by a strong current. While two were rescued by their companions, three others went missing.

The missing youths have been identified as Ankush Paswan (22) of Sherghati and Adarsh Chandri (22) of Itwa, Nabinagar, both from Bihar, and Rajneesh Chandravanshi (23) of Pokharahi village. Despite hours of searching by local divers, no trace of the youths had been found by 6 pm.
