Ranchi, Sept. 18 -- Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato returned to Ranchi on Friday after serving as India's lead speaker at a Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference workshop on climate adaptation and resilience in Cape Town.
Mahato's suggestions made during the workshop were taken on record for recommendation, according to a Jharkhand Assembly release.
Addressing the workshop, Mahato said climate adaptation should not be viewed merely as an environmental issue but linked with development, public safety and protection of livelihoods.
He stressed the need for water conservation, rainwater harvesting, preparedness and climate-resilient infrastructure in view of erratic rainfall, water scarcity and rising temperatures.
