Dumka, Dec. 30 -- Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar has suspended the Hansdiha police station in-charge with immediate effect following allegations of assault, abuse and illegal detention of two journalists.
The action was taken after a probe led by the Jarmundi Sub-Divisional Police Officer found prima facie evidence of indiscipline and conduct unbecoming of the police force in connection with the incident involving journalists Mrityunjay Pandey and Nitesh Kumar on December 27.
Based on the inquiry report, Hansdiha SHO Tarachand has been placed under suspension with subsistence allowance and directed to report to the Dumka Police Centre.
Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against him.
