Ranchi, Sept. 9 -- Eight Jal Sahiyas from Jharkhand were honoured on Wednesday for their contribution to ensuring regular and safe drinking water supply and effective operation and maintenance of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes in rural areas.
Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Abu Imran, presented the awardees with certificates of appreciation, mementos and angavastrams at a programme held at Nepal House here.
Five of the awardees are from Bokaro district and three from Ranchi district.
The Jal Sahiyas played an active role in coordinating with Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) for operation and maintenance of water supply schemes in their respective villages and panchayats.
