Ranchi, July 20 -- Congress legislators from Jharkhand on Monday sought a 15-day extension of the deadline for submission of enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, citing practical and logistical difficulties faced by voters.
A delegation led by Jharkhand Congress in-charge K Raju and Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission through the state's Chief Electoral Officer.
The Congress said reports received from voters, booth-level agents, elected representatives and field workers indicated that many eligible voters had been unable to complete the process because of migration, work commitments, illness and other reasons.
