Ranchi, May 31 -- An awareness programme on tobacco cessation and cancer prevention was organised in Ranchi today on the eve of World No Tobacco Day, with health experts highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and stressing the need for collective action to build a tobacco-free society.
The programme was jointly organised by Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC), the District Tobacco Control Cell, Ranchi, and Government Teachers Training College, Ranchi.
Addressing the gathering, Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Medical Officer Dr Prabhat Kumar said tobacco control was not only a health issue but also a social responsibility, and called for collective efforts to protect youth from tobacco addiction.
