Srinagar, Oct. 8 -- The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has directed authorities to revive the passport of an MBBS student pursuing her studies in Iran after her passport was impounded in connection with a case registered against her father in 1997.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati and Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal passed the directions on October 5 while disposing of an appeal filed by a female student pursuing MBBS at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Kish Campus, Iran.

The appellant had challenged the impounding of her passport following show-cause notices issued on March 27 and April 9, 2026, which culminated in an order dated May 4, 2026.
