Srinagar, Sept. 22 -- The second day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session began on a stormy note on Tuesday, with a demand to restore public holidays marking the birth and death anniversaries of National Conference (NC) founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, coupled with a call to reconsider the holiday commemorating Maharaja Hari Singh, triggering sharp exchanges between ruling National Confrence and BJP legislators.
The confrontation came a day before the government holiday marking Hari Singh's birth anniversary.
After the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, the Centre cancelled the public holiday on Sheikh Abdullah's birth anniversary and declared Maharaja Hari Singh's birth anniversary a public holiday in Jammu and Kashmir....
