Srinagar, March 31 -- A woman identified as the beneficiary of a fraudulent government appointment, was among five persons convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court Pulwama on Tuesday in a 28-year old corruption case.

The Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court Pulwama, Dr Noor Mohamad Mir, held the accused guilty in a case registered in 1998 by the then Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (now ACB) for securing a fake appointment of Hamida Akhter as a teacher in Government High School Goripora, Pulwama.

The court convicted Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Syed Showkeen Andrabi, Mohammad Ashraf Khan and Hamida Akhter under provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC sections related to forgery, cheating and criminal conspira...
