Jammu, May 6 -- Jammu police today destroyed a rusted mortar shell found in a field in the Arnia sector here in the city outskirts.
Police said, "A suspicious, rusted mortar shell was spotted in the village of Treva of Arnia.""On receiving information regarding the discovery of an old rusted shell in open fields near BOP Vikrant, the police took immediate action," said the cops.
Inspector Chandan Singh, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team of PCR Jammu, promptly reached the spot and, after assessing the situation, the team safely destroyed the unexploded ordnance (UXO) in situ.
