Seoul, June 24 -- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday underscored the importance of stronger cooperation between India and South Korea, saying "like-minded countries with shared values" must work together in an increasingly difficult global environment during talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun in Seoul.

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Jaishankar stressed that the current international situation makes cooperation among trusted partners more important than ever.

He said it was "a great pleasure to be back in Seoul" and noted that the timing of the meeting was significant, coming after a recent high-level presidential visit.
