Ranchi, Nov. 6 -- The Jharkhand prison administration has suspended jailer Devanath Ram and Jamadar Vinod Kumar after a video showing inmates dancing inside Ranchi's Birsa Munda Central Jail went viral on social media, officials said on Thursday.
Following the directive of the Inspector General of Prisons, Dinesh Verma has been appointed as the new jailer and instructed to assume charge immediately.
The viral video created a stir within the prison department, prompting swift action by the authorities. In the footage, two inmates wearing shorts and T-shirts can be seen dancing energetically, while a few others are present in the background.
