Neeraj BaliChandigarh, Oct. 19 -- In a development that could add a new dimension to Punjab's border-belt politics, Amandeep Kaur, wife of jailed gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, has announced her decision to contest the next Assembly election from Dera Baba Nanak, saying she has abandoned her dental studies in the United States to pursue a political career in her husband's home constituency.
Kaur made the announcement at Sarafkot village, declaring that she would contest under the banner of the "Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Team". However, she said a final decision on whether to contest as an independent or on a political party's ticket would be taken later in consultation with her team.
