Hamirpur (HP), May 14 -- The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Hamirpur, has sentenced the new owners and successors of the Ludhiana-based firm 'Hare Krishna Arts' to one year of simple imprisonment each, along with a fine.

This case pertains to a defective machine purchased in the year 2015. Sumit Agnihotri, the proprietor of 'The Ads,' had filed a complaint with the Consumer Commission after the machine malfunctioned.

On August 8, 2019, the Commission ordered the firm to either replace the machine or refund the sum of Rs8.16 lakh, inclusive of 9 per cent interest. Additionally, directions were issued to pay Rs25,000 as compensation for mental harassment and Rs10,000 towards legal expenses.
