Shimla, Feb. 9 -- The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees, Engineers and Pensioners on Monday strongly objected to the recent remarks attributed to the state Finance Secretary that the state government had prioritised 16th Finance Commission (FC) recommendation of privatisation of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL).

Any observations or suggestions made by the 16th Finance Commission regarding reforms in the power sector have not yet been accepted or approved by the Government of India and, therefore, cannot be treated as final, binding, or mandatory, the JAC said.
