Rome, July 9 -- Italy has decided to expel two Russian military attaches from the Russian Embassy in Rome following the arrest of suspects in an alleged espionage case, Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said on Thursday.
"The Italian government has decided to expel two military attaches from the Russian Embassy in Italy," Tajani said in a post on X. He added that the diplomats have been ordered to leave the country within three days.
The move comes after Italian carabinieri arrested two people on June 7 on allegations of acting in Russia's interests, while five others were subjected to searches.
