Jerusalem, Oct. 21 -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the chief of Egypt's General Intelligence Agency Major Gen Hassan Rashad in Jerusalem on Tuesday, during which they discussed implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal.

This is the first visit by a senior Egyptian official to Israel, since it began its war against Hamas in Gaza on Oct 7, 2023. The IDF campaign had greatly strained Jerusalem's bilateral ties with all the Muslim - Arab nations with which it has formal diplomatic relations, which includes Egypt, Turkey, the UAE, Bahrain.
