Jerusalem/Tehran, June 21 -- Israel will maintain its military presence in southern Lebanon despite its newly announced ceasefire with Hezbollah, said the country's Defence Minister Israel Katz on Sunday, as US-Iran negotiations are set to kick off in Switzerland.

Katz said that IDF forces will remain deployed inside what Jerusalem has called a "security zone" along the Yellow Line and continue its operations against Hezbollah targets.

"Our forces remain deployed in the security zone along the Yellow Line in Lebanon and operate from there against terrorists and terrorist infrastructure," Katz said.
