Tel Aviv/New Delhi, April 9 -- Israel will begin direct peace talks with Lebanon ''as soon as possible,'' giving the fragile US-Iran ceasefire a chance to survive. This was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, according to Israeli media.
The fragile peace process was hanging by a thread after Israeli Air Force attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Unconfirmed reports said about 300 people were killed in the Israeli attack.
Following the Israeli strikes on Hezbollah, Iran had warned that the attacks made negotiations ''meaningless.''The ceasefire was on the edge over whether Lebanon is a subject of the negotiations. While Iran said it is part of the negotiations, Israel and the US denied.
