New York, Nov. 15 -- Ahead of Monday's UNSC vote on the US-brokered ceasefire plan in Gaza, several Islamic states working to resolve the war have actively backed Washington's initiative, and issued a joint statement voicing their support.
The statement, supported by Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan and Turkey, noted that the proposed peace process "offers a pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood," reports Israeli media.
The statement went beyond the text's crux, as the signatories made their political demands clear, which was the creation and recognition of a sovereign Palestinian state, existing side by side with Israel.
