Tehran, June 14 -- Ahmad Vahidi, commander-in-chief of Iran's powerful theocratic paramilitary unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has emerged as central figure in the US-Iran negotiations, reportedly playing a major role in shaping Tehran's position in its talks with Washington, a news report said.
Citing Iranian and Arab officials, the news report published in Wall Street Journal on Saturday said that Vahidi consistently opposed concessions to Washington and pushed for a tougher approach throughout the talks.
As per the report, Vahidi has been among the strongest advocates for Iran's missile strikes on Israel last week, launched after an Israeli attack on Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut.
