Tehran, June 29 -- Plans by Iranian authorities to hold funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei between July 4-9 have triggered widespread criticism, satire and speculation among Iranians, with many questioning the delayed burial and the continued absence of his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, who hasn't been seen since the death of his father.

The Islamic Republic's second supreme leader, Ali Khamenei was killed on February 28 in the opening hours of Iran's war with Israel and the US in a decapitation strike which eliminated most of Iran's political and military leadership, and reportedly badly injured Mojtaba.
