Tehran/Washington, April 15 -- Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Wednesday that Tehran was discussing the release of billions of dollars-worth of its frozen government assets, as part of reaching a potential new agreement with the US for ending the war.
Qatar says it still holds over $6 billion worth frozen Iranian assets intact, which the US Treasury would have to clear for release back to Tehran.
"This was one of the issues that was discussed," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei told reporters in the capital on Wednesday, in reference to the Iranian discussions with Washington, which are being facilitated by Pakistan.
