Tehran, March 8 -- Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Tehran will not consider a ceasefire in the conflict with the US and Israel until they explain what he termed their "reasons" for launching the war, stating that the only thing Tehran would settle for would be a permanent end to the war.

Speaking to NBC News, Araghchi said Washington and Israel had initiated the conflict without justification.

"They have to explain why they started this aggression," Araghchi said, describing the war as "unprovoked, unwarranted and illegal", adding that Iran's actions since then were lawful acts of self-defence.

"And we have every right to do that," he said.
