Doha, July 1 -- Iran and the US have begun a new round of indirect negotiations in Doha, under Qatar and Pakistan mediation, according to reports from CBS News.

The discussions are taking place days after the first round of direct US-Iran talks in Switzerland and are focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding signed last month, especially matters relating to Iran's frozen assets and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

While having met the Qatari prime minister on Tuesday, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are not attending Wednesday's technical talks.
