Arti BaliNew Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Iran believes the United States' shift from negotiations to military action shows that Washington's objective goes beyond the nuclear issue and is ultimately aimed at regime change, a senior Iranian legal official said.

Hasan Abdolianpour, head of Iran's Centre for Attorneys of the Judiciary, said Tehran had long viewed U.S. pressure, including sanctions and support for protests, as part of a broader strategy against the Islamic Republic.

He said decades of sanctions had strengthened Iran's determination to withstand external pressure and that Tehran expected the United States to continue its hostile policies.
