Lausanne (Switzerland), June 23 -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) has approved the proposal to move most ice sports competitions at the 2030 French Alps Olympic Winter Games to Lyon, France, in an effort to reduce Games costs.
The French Alps 2030 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG) submitted proposals to relocate curling, figure skating, ice hockey and short track speed skating toa new cluster in Lyon to the IOC EB during the two-day meeting here.
"This evolution supports a more compact overall Games footprint and enables significant cost efficiencies, while maintaining a high-quality competition and athlete experience," the IOC announced.
