Tehran, April 14 -- Iran's prolonged internet shutdown - now stretching beyond 1,000 hours - is having a deep and widening economic impact, steadily dismantling the country's digital sector and pushing thousands of small businesses toward collapse.
Officials estimate losses at more than $35 million per day, bringing total damage to roughly $1.5 billion since the shutdown began, Iran International reported.
Independent assessments suggest the true cost could be significantly higher, with some estimates reaching $80 million daily when indirect effects - such as lost productivity, disrupted supply chains and reduced consumer activity - are included.
