Kochi, Nov. 7 -- INS Ikshak, the third ship of the Survey Vessel Large (SVL) class, was formally commissioned into the Indian Navy at a ceremonial event held at the Naval Base, here on Thursday.

The commissioning was presided over by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), in the presence of Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, FOCINC (South), senior naval officers, veterans, representatives from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, and distinguished civilian guests.

The ceremony began with a 50-men Guard of Honour presented to the CNS, followed by the reading of the ship's Commissioning Warrant by Captain Tribhuvan Singh, Commanding Officer of INS Ikshak.
