Bengaluru, Oct. 11 -- Drawing parallels with Japan's cautious embrace of automation, Managing Director of Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery, Sandeep Singh said India too must ensure that the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous manufacturing does not come at the today cost of employment and social balance.

He said Japan remains an example of a country that prioritises its workforce even while adopting cutting-edge technology.

"Japanese industries are highly conscious about giving employment to their people. They will introduce automation, but never at the cost of their employees. Even if the cost of production is slightly higher, they prefer to manufacture in Japan - both to maintain quality and to protect jobs," he said ...
