Sanya, April 27 -- The Indian women's kabaddi team successfully defended its crown and won the gold medal at the Asian Beach Games 2026 here, the People's Republic of China, on Monday, while the men settled for a second consecutive silver.

The six-member Indian women's beach kabaddi team, led by Ritu, converted their slender 20-18 lead at the half-time to beat Sri Lanka 47-31 for a sixth consecutive title in as many editions.

In the semi-finals, India defeated Bangladesh 50-31. Alongside skipper Ritu, Manisha Kumari, Simran Kamboj, Manpreet Kaur, Nikita and Nikita Chauhan were also part of the Indian kabaddi team. At the last edition in 2016, India defeated Thailand in the final, according to olympics.com.
