New Delhi, July 23 -- In a major capacity augmentation initiative, Indian Railways has approved the construction of a 14.52-km third rail line between Nimpura West Outer Cabin and Midnapur in the South Eastern Railway at an estimated cost of Rs 440 crore.
The project aims to ease congestion on one of the country's important freight corridors while enhancing the movement of both passenger and freight trains.
The sanctioned third line forms part of the High Utilisation Network (HUN-2) route. Currently, the Nimpura West Outer Cabin-Gokulpur section operates as a single line, while doubling works are already underway.
