Chandigarh, March 17 -- Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said India's socio-political map would have been vastly superior had Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh been the country's first Prime Minister.

Speaking at a public gathering in Dhuri after inaugurating a new Sub-Divisional Hospital, the Chief Minister questioned why the nation remains shackled to an outdated administrative system despite decades of independence. He remarked that revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Kartar Singh Sarabha did not sacrifice their lives for a country where the common man still struggles for basic services and employment within a "patwari-tehsil" structure that has barely changed in 80 years.
