New Delhi, July 6 -- India's dealmaking activity recorded a sharp increase in transaction values during the second quarter of 2026, with the combined value of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity (PE) deals surging 127 per cent quarter-on-quarter to USD 36.3 billion, even as overall deal volumes declined.

According to Grant Thornton Bharat's latest Dealtracker report, the quarter saw 565 transactions, down 18 per cent from the previous quarter. However, a series of large strategic transactions, particularly outbound acquisitions by Indian companies, lifted overall deal values to their highest quarterly level in four years.
