New Delhi, April 24 -- India has shown interest in hosting the Asian Games in 2038, marking a possible return of the event to the country for the first time since 1982.

The proposal was discussed during the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) executive board meeting in Sanya, China.

India has hosted the Asian Games twice before- first in 1951 and then in 1982, both times in the national capital. If the 2038 bid is successful, it will bring the continental event back to India for a third time.

With the 2026 Asian Games set to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and the 2030 and 2034 editions already awarded to Doha and Riyadh, respectively, India is now aiming for the 2038 slot. This move is also in line with the country's broader push to host the ...
