Dharamsala, June 13 -- India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field first against Afghanistan in the opening One-Day International of the three-match series on Saturday, citing overcast conditions and the possibility of rain.

Speaking at the toss, Gill said the conditions appeared favourable for seam bowling early in the innings but expected the pitch to remain good for batting as the match progressed.

"We're going to bowl first. It's a little overcast and could help the bowlers. There could also be some rain around the corner. The wicket looks very good and should be a good batting surface once the initial movement settles," Gill said.
