Lucknow, March 23 -- Around 2.54 million people in India are living with HIV, a figure that includes about 45 percent women and 2.75 percent children. Currently, in Uttar Pradesh, around 1,38,000 HIV-infected individuals are receiving free counseling, treatment, and medication at ART centers.
On Monday, a state-level media sensitization workshop on the subject of HIV/AIDS was organized by the Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society at the auditorium of the State Information Department. The objective of the program was to disseminate accurate information regarding HIV/AIDS, reduce social stigma, and strengthen the role of the media in public health initiatives.
