New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- India is negotiating free trade agreements (FTAs) with at least eight to nine more groups of countries and individual nations, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday, as New Delhi steps up efforts to expand its access to global markets.
Speaking to business representatives from India and Japan, Goyal said the countries and trade blocs currently under negotiation collectively represent economies worth about $15 trillion in global GDP. Once concluded, these agreements could expand India's network of FTAs to markets accounting for roughly 75% of global trade, he said.
